In March 1610, Galileo Galilei published a booklet named "Sidereus Nuncius" ("Starry Messenger") in which he described the observations he had made with a brand-new invention - the telescope! Galileo was a true "Renaissance man", whose research topics included the solar system, tides, buoyancy, and the physics of moving objects.
