September 6th, 2010 by Rob Keown

The archive of the webcast for the GRAS “Astronomy & Chess” program can be found here.

You can also see the slides for the webcast here.

Join AFM*Radio Skyguide Marleen Bryan on September 6th, 2010 at 1800 GMT (2 PM EDT) for a one hour long multimedia webcast on “Astronomy & Chess!” brought to you by our partner Global-Rent-a-Scope (GRAS).

While perhaps not immediately apparent, there are many similarities between the science and art of chess and astronomy.

Dr. Christian Sasse, GRAS affiliate (one of the affiliate owners that make up the worldwide GRAS network of telescopes) will share his perspectives on astronomy. Dr. John Nunn, chess grandmaster, and once ranked internationally in the top 10, will speak of chess and his own interest in astronomy.

Of special interest is some sample images of Near Infrared (NIR) astrophotography, coming to a GRAS scope in the near future.

Both John and Christian will show images and videos using AFM*Radio’s Adobe Connect webcast room.

You can login 15 minutes before the program starts by following the link to: http://conferencecasting.na5.acrobat.com/gras/

The audio portion of this webcast will also be simulcast on AFM*Radio.
